Grimsby Trawler Akranes, GY155. Built in 1929 by Cochrane Shipbuilders, Official number 160979. On the 29 August 1939 it was requisitioned for war service as a minesweeper (P. No. FY513) hire rate of £168.11.2d per month based at Grimsby with M/S Group 40. On the 4th July 1941 it was anchored for the night off Danes Dyke south of Flamborough Head (Ty/Lieut W A C Harvey) in company with HM Trawlers Sandringham (GY303) and Almandine (H415) were attacked and bombed by German aircraft but the bombs failed to detonate. Attacked again with canon fire and badly damaged; the crew abandoned ship in a boat and vessel floundered in position 54.05.8N 00.07.7W. In 1941 Grimsby registry closed.
