View of Peppercorn level crossing and timber gates. Peppercorn level crossing crossed two sets of railway lines, one that ran to Louth, the other going to Grimsby docks and Cleethorpes. The crossing was roughly half-way along Peppercorn Walk (which later became Doughty Road) and connected with the other end of Peppercorn Walk which in turn led into Town Hall Square. In this photograph we are looking towards the Grimsby/Cleethorpes line and the Town Hall and Town Hall Square. The path the photographer is on led from the foot crossing over the Grimsby to Louth line.
