Looking at the backs of houses on Garibaldi Street (far left) and Duncombe Street (centre) with courtyards and wash houses towards Albion Street and a damaged house at the centre. The damage was caused by a gas explosion at 83 Duncombe Street in the early hours of the 1st July 1963. The cause of the explosion was malicious and the house owner was arrested. Seven families needed re-housing. Photographed 1st July 1963.
