A very early photograph of Deansgate. On the left are Ivy Cottages and in the distance is St. James Church. Restoration work on the church started in 1857 and the transept roof has already been restored to its original height. Shows the corner of Deansgate with Bargate/Dudley Street, and the bridge (built by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway Company in 1847/48) over the railway leading into Grimsby's Bull Ring and Church Lane.
