View of the Baptist Church on Alexandra Road, Cleethorpes. Originally built in 1910, it was destroyed on the 1st April 1916 during an air raid from a Zeppelin airship, killing soldiers of the Manchester Regiment. London was the original target but Zeppelin L22 had to turn back due to either bad weather or engine trouble. Bombs were dropped on Mablethorpe and then mistakenly on Cleethorpes instead of Grimsby docks. Photographed circa 1956.
