The remains of The Royal Kinema destroyed by fire August 20th 1919. It was mainly a timber structure. At the turn of the century it housed a circus and was owned by Matthew Dowse. Its successor, the Royal Cinema was financed by Mr. Marnes of the Cleethorpes Laundry, in Neptune Street, and was a reinforced concrete structure, erected 1920-21. About 1965 it was demolished and the Excel ten-pin bowling alley took its place.
