Official opening of the swimming bath at the Fisherlad's Institute on the 6th April 1923. The Mayor (Councillor J. Womersley, J. P.) and Mayoress perform the ceremony by diving in to the pool and swimming a length. Proceedings to hand over the Institute to the Corporation began as early as 1911 but was adjourned because of the First World War.
